2022 National Police Incident and Fire Situation: 2.092 million incidents handled.

Recently, the National Fire and Rescue Bureau released data on the response and fire‑related incidents handled by fire and rescue teams nationwide in 2022. According to the statistics, last year these teams responded to a total of 2.092 million incidents, dispatching firefighters 22.472 million times and fire engines 4.013 million times. They rescued 168,000 trapped individuals and evacuated 267,000 people in danger. In addition, they handled 825,000 fires, resulting in 2,053 fatalities and 2,122 injuries, with direct property losses amounting to RMB 7.16 billion. Compared with 2021, the number of incidents and the death toll increased by 7.8% and 1.2%, respectively, while the number of injuries and property losses decreased by 8.8% and 0.9%, respectively.

The 2022 National Report on the Safety Status of Special Equipment Has Been Released; Non‑compliant Operations Remain the Primary Cause of Accidents.

Recently, the State Administration for Market Regulation issued the “Notice on the National Safety Situation of Special Equipment in 2022.” According to the notice, in 2022, a total of 108 accidents involving special equipment and related incidents occurred nationwide, resulting in 101 fatalities. Compared with 2021, the number of accidents decreased by 2, a drop of 1.82%, while the death toll increased by 2, up 2.02%. The fatality rate per 10,000 units of special equipment was 0.07. No major or particularly serious accidents occurred throughout the year, and the overall safety situation of special equipment remained stable.
